How to Redirect Your Selected Mail to Earth Class Mail

Once you've set up your Earth Class Mail account, you'll need to take these steps to ensure that the redirection of your selected mail is as smooth and speedy as possible.

Step 1: Authorize Us to Receive Your Mail by Completing the Postal Consent Form (USPS 1583)

  • While Earth Class Mail's concept of putting your mail online is totally new, the idea of a person or business having a mail-receiving agent is not. That's why the U.S. Postal Service requires completion of the Postal Consent Form (USPS 1583), so that you can authorize Earth Class Mail to receive your mail.
  • Filling out this form will not cause your mail to be sent to your new Earth Class Mail Address; it just authorizes us to receive any mail you have had sent to us.
  • For every Remote Address you wish to use, we must have an original copy of this form on file.
  • Unlike other mail-receiving agencies, we’ve made the completion of this form faster and easier for you by creating a special online assistant that you can use when you sign up for your account.

Step 2: Notarize the Form, Attach Photocopies of Your Identification, and Mail to Us

Once you have filled out – but not signed – the Postal Consent Form, you will need to have it notarized.

Notaries public may be found at many large post offices, banks, credit unions, corporations, and U.S. Consulates and embassies, as well as many other locations (check your preferred search engine for “notary [city, state]”). If you live outside the U.S. and a notary is not available in your country of residence, we will accept forms that are stamped with an official seal, such as that of an attorney.

As soon as you put the original Postal Consent Form in the mail to us, you may begin to inform mailers of your new address. For extra assurance, you may want to wait to give out your new address until we have notified you by email that your form has been processed and approved.

Step 3: Distribute Your New Address with Selected Mailers So They Will Send Us Your Mail

We recommend that you start the flow of mail to your Earth Class Mail account by notifying selected mailers of your new address. Most of our customers prefer to redirect mail from only certain senders rather than having all their mail sent to us, so that home or office delivery will continue for items such as catalogs, magazine subscriptions, DVDs, USPS-shipped parcels, and other items you might prefer to receive directly.
