Director of Strategic Business Development, Located in Seattle, Washington
Job Responsibilities:
In this role, you will help to implement the corporation's strategic goals by sourcing, closing, and cultivating partnerships and relationships with bricks-and-mortar organizations and targeted online partners. You will also help to identify, evaluate, and negotiate product, intellectual property, and technology licenses as well as other strategic transactions.
Specific Activities:
Sourcing
- Investigate and define business and financial opportunities presented by bricks-and-mortar partners and online partners
- Identify and analyze technologies, products, and services forming a strategic fit
- Attend industry conferences and trade shows
Analyzing and Targeting
- Perform and synthesize competition and market research
- Assess value of and prioritize partnership opportunities; perform opportunity analysis and financial valuation of deals (business case analysis); recommend transactions, with details concerning projected scope, cost and timelines required for planned due diligence, appropriate action plans
- Work with marketing to create partnerships for customer acquisition outside normal acquisition channels
- Create revenue opportunities through the introduction of new services, usually through partnering
Negotiating, Closing, Cultivating, and Training
- Develop term-sheet proposals with prospective partners and actively participate in (and sometimes lead) the negotiation and contract revision process
- Contribute to development of partner sales support toolkits; train partners in how to sell our services to their own customers
- Cultivate existing partner relationships through frequent calls or face-to-face strategy sessions
Additional Activities Specific to Online Partners
- Work with marketing to develop content, collateral, links, and email campaigns for online partners
- Source partners with close strategic fit for offering services to our own customers both on our public website and within the secure Earth Class Mail application
Requirements:
- Four-year degree, MBA or JD or sufficient additional management-related education or experience is a plus
- Minimum 7 years continuous experience and increasing responsibility in sales, business development, or strategic development
- Able to work independently to identify and pursue new opportunities
- Extensive deal-negotiation experience. Significant familiarity with common deal terms and basic contract-negotiation strategies. Able, without supervision, to conduct early-stage contract revisions and exercise judgment on feasible compromises
- Significant client, prospect, or partner management experience
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills. Must be able to prepare content for outside consumption with minimal need of editing or oversight by superiors with very high standards. Strong presentation design skills. Facility with copywriting is a major plus.
- Must have demonstrated experience in developing internal business cases (strategic, tactical and economic analyses) for pursuit of program opportunities and in synthesizing the results into concise recommendations or plans of action
- Strong background in managing online partner campaigns, including selecting viable affiliates, forming partnerships, evaluating data and metrics, and acting on same
Direct and Retail Sales Director, Located in Seattle, Washington
Job Summary and Mission: This position contributes to the continued success of Earth Class Mail by overseeing our consumer/direct sales as well as our customer-service team. In this role you will manage, train, lead, motivate and inspire to push our sales to the highest level. This role also entails managing sales in our unique retail stores to be located nationwide. The VP of Marketing at Earth Class Mail will be responsible for revenue creation through the development of integrated online and offline marketing activities to drive monthly sales results within our various consumer and small/midsize business markets, as well as support sales efforts in attracting enterprise and national post accounts.
